DeeDee Barrera, MA, CCC-SLP

The University of Texas at Austin

Irma “DeeDee” Barrera has been a practicing speech language pathologist for over 25 years and has worked in many settings. She worked for the San Antonio, Laredo, Eanes, and Leander school districts, for the CEDEN Early Childhood Intervention program, for the Brackenridge Hospital out-patient clinic, and as a bilingual clinical supervisor for students in the graduate bilingual speech pathology program at the University of Texas Speech and Hearing Center here in Austin.

Pediatrics has always been her love and in the last 10 years here at LTTS, she has found her passion working with children on the spectrum, apraxia, and bilingual clients.

She embraces a Hanen-based therapy approach as nothing brings her greater joy than connecting children with their parents.

DeeDee believes that treating the whole child is important and thus incorporates sensory integration, and social communication work into her therapy as well.
